The Department of Archaeology, in collaboration with UNESCO, has launched a major restoration and conservation project for historic buildings in Old Dhaka. The project focuses on preserving the architectural heritage of the Mughal and colonial-era buildings that dot the old part of the capital.

The first phase will focus on 15 buildings including Ahsan Manzil, Lalbagh Fort, and several historic mosques and churches.
